its a friends little girls 1st birthday and when I asked what she would like, she said she was getting her a little pram and would love a blanket for it ... well that is right up my street ... so I had lots of fun making these ...
I love doing a bit of hand sewing and patchwork is always so pretty to do
and being in Wales, she would need a blanket as it can get pretty cold!
I then thought I needed to make a pillow for her teddy, so did a little double sided one so she can choose what colour she would like ...
I hope she liked it!
for years I have thought if I ever had a baby, I would love to do their room up like a woodland ... and living in a cabin makes it even more perfect! The baby will be in with us for a while, but our room isn't big so a nursery is still needed. I knew as soon as I saw the wardrobes in our spare room that I wanted to paint them with 2 trees and little woodland animals, so when I found out I was pregnant, I had a mooch on Pinterest and google images for some inspiration and look what I found!
I am really loving getting it all together and can't wait to show you what I have done!
so do you remember that little frame I got for 50p last month?
well in looking through my pictures to see if there was something I could frame for the babies room, I came across a cross stitch back in February 1994 (I know the date as I wrote it on the back ... I'm not that good at remembering!)
well it fit p-e-r-f-e-c-t-l-y !!
so I quickly slapped some paint on the frame ...
drew around the glass onto the cross stitch ... it was a tight squeeze and I did have a moment of 'this is the cut of no return!'
but when I popped it in the frame it was so cute I was really happy and its now up in my bedroom :)
the last few weeks I have been having fun working on updating my lacemaking leaflet and lace lesson worksheets :)
I am hoping to start up teaching bobbin lacemaking again ... I have copies of all the old worksheets and booklet that I made, but they are from about 10 years ago when I was on a PC not a mac which I switched to about 8 years ago, so am basically starting from scratch.
I also got rid of a lot of my teaching equipment each time I have moved in the last 5 years, which is a bit gutting, but at the same time its nice to plan it all from new.
so if you are interested in learning and live in Powys or Herefordshire, I am going to be offering lessons here at my home, hopefully in a local pub, or if you have a few friends that want to learn, then I could come to you. Just
let me know and I will let you know when I am set up ready to go!
I love putting on warm clothes that have been on the radiator all night
I love watching the birds feeding on the decking
I love coming in from a walk in the snow and tingling in the warmth
I love the light on a clear frosty morning
I love seeing pools and puddles frozen over
I love being cosy on a lazy afternoon in front of the fire
I love seeing the amazing shapes tree silhouettes make
I love snowdrops poking through the soil
I love waking up to a white world
and I love seeing kids wrapped up and having fun in the snow
things I don't love ...
muddy wet dogs on my nice clean floor!
I spent a total of 90p in town the other week ... apart from the grocery shop! I popped in to 2 of the charity shops and this is what I found ...
this lovely pottery vase was only 20p ... I have some flowers from our wedding that have dried and still look lovely so have put them in it :)
I'm sure I used to have a little frame like this ... it was only 50 and perfect for the baby's room. I am going to have a collection of woodland pictures on the wall and I think a little cross stitch owl or fox would look so cute in it ... and the cookery book was only 20p ... one of my new years resolutions is to try more recipes and I do like quiche :)
and then the other day I was having a lovely mooch around town with my mum and came across this handmade dish ...
it was £2.50 and looks lovely on my dresser! perfect for all those little bits I never know what to do with :)
