winter watch bird table experiment

have you been watching Winter Watch on BBC2?
they have had a bird table experiment over the last few days.
each day you put something different on your bird table and see what birds come to eat!

we don't have a bird table, we are wanting to design something round one of the pillars at the front of the house near where all the hanging bird feeders are. but I mentioned to Steve, does he have a piece of wood I could put on top of one of the plant pots, just to make a temporary table .... he said he was sure there was something ... I was pretty sure too as there is loads of odd bits of wood left over from building the cabin. He came back 15 mins later having knocked up a quick tray that can sit on top of the plant pot where I can see it from the kitchen :D

everyday for 3 days you feed the birds something different and record your results.
day 1 :: SEEDS
day 2 :: if your surname is between a-m you feed them CHEESE and if its between n-z then feed them APPLE
day 3 :: if your surname is between a-m you feed them APPLE and if its betwen n-z then you feed them CHEESE

you watch them for 3 mins and record the amount of the different birds you see, then have 7 mins off (go make a cuppa!) and then watch for another 3 mins, 7 mins off and then watch for the final 3 mins

so here are my result ::
day 1 :: SEEDS
blue tit x 2
black bird x 1

blue tit x 1
sparrow x 1
great tit x 1

blue tit x 1

day 2 :: CHEESE
coal tit x 2

robin x 1

robin x 1

day 3 :: APPLE
robin x 1
coal tit x 2

great tit x 1

blue tit x 2

did you take part?
what did you see?
