I am moving tomorrow so today is my last day in East Sussex ... most of the packing is done .... just got the little bits and bobs that I never know what to do with and move from house to house with me ... I just hope it all fits in the van!
Dilly is slightly unsettled and follows me from room to room ... don't worry
Dilly, I would never leave you behind!
Gonna have Chinese for tea tonight ... which is good as I have realised that I haven't had lunch yet.
.... still got to take some shelves down ... better get to it!
Joined a
bloggybookclub today ... they are just about to read Under The Skin by Michel Faber ... have ordered it on Amazon for 1p!! total bargain! (there was p&p on top of that, but still....!) It does say that it may take up to 14 days to arrive ... I hope not ... I have to finish it for the end of the month .... I would have to read like the wind!
Ok, so I know I am meant to be busy packing ... but I am almost done and
I work better under pressure and still have a couple more days before I
move ... but I have been playing with my personal website ... wanting
to give it a bit of a face lift, but ended up playing a little too much
and have 2 face lifts now to chose from! ... I can't decided which I
prefer ... please let me know what you think and if you have a favourite
...
The first is wild flowers ...
... and the second is duck egg blue ...
I obviously haven't put much content on them yet as I want to decide which one to continue with first.
I have added a poll <-- or leave a comment and help me decide!
Thank you
I will let you decide while I pack some more bits ... speaking of packing, I seem to have an abundance of extension leads & plastic food boxes! (at least they are both useful things I guess!)
I had a delve in my sewing box today (before I packed it) and pulled out a few half finished samplers ...
This is my take on black-work ... maroon-work! Its for the house I lived
in in Cornwall ... a bit more finished then the other sampler, so
probably the one I will try and complete first.
This is one from the little terraced house that I was born in (... the
date on the sampler is the date my parents moved in, not the date I was
born!) ... on one side is dad with my big brother and the other is mum
with a pram with me inside! (this was when there was only me & my
big brother ... before my other 3 brothers arrived!)
Humm..... I have hardly done anything on this sampler ...
... and I am rather ashamed to admit that this is a sampler I started
for my brother and my best friend when they got married ..............
10 years ago! Maybe this should be 1st on my list of projects to
complete!!
I have one week here left and I seem to be slacking a bit on the packing ... I get easily distracted (mostly by the internet!) ... I work better under pressure so will (hopefully!) get it all done ... but I have hardly done anything today.
More packing today and have been going around taking down my pictures ... it is funny how you can have things on the walls for years and not look at them. I looked as I was taking them down and remembered all the time that went into making some of my samplers ...
this was done on black material and I made it up as I went along ... my
mum really loves this and I made her a smaller one as a gift.
this was a little sampler that I made for my first flat ... it has been
in the kitchen of every house I have lived in since ... again, kinda
made it up as I went along!
this is a Christmas sampler ... one of the only ones that I have made
using a pattern I didn't design myself .... I saw it in a magazine and
just loved how Christmassy it was.
Looking at them, and others that I have made, make me want to dig out
all the samplers that I have half made and finish them. I started making
one for each house I have lived in ... all different styles, but as
that's quite a few, most are un-finished!
I have been treating myself this week to a couple of gorgeous handmade goodies. The first on is this lovely
watch on a chain made by Madam Lili Designs
... it arrived earlier in the week and I have worn it every day. I love
watches but end up never wearing them and always looking at my phone
for the time, so I thought this was perfect .... and I love it .... I
have even checked the time on it too! hehe
My second treat arrived this morning and I LOVE IT .... a
pretty floral purse made by Glitterysah ... I have had my eye on it for a while and am so pleased I got it.
It arrived beautifully packed with a ribbon around it .... it felt like my birthday!
Please check out her shop
www.glitterysah.com where she has lots of pretty treasures to tempt you!
I have come to the awkward job of packing up my lace pillows. One of
them doesn't have anything in it at the moment, but the other has some
lace that I haven't finished (one of those half finished projects I am
looking forward to finishing!)
Luckily its not a wide piece that's on there at the moment, but have
decided the best way to pack it so it won't get all tangled is to use a
knitting stitch holder and thread it through the loops on the spangles
at the bottom (knitting stitch holders are an essential tool for
lace-makers!!) and then pack it in a box with folded towels on top.
It's not the end of the world if the bobbins get all tangled. When I
first started making lace, I was 13 and 2 of my brothers were under 5
and they were always knocking it over and it would take me ages to sort
out, especially when I was doing wide lace that required about a hundred
bobbins!
As well as packing today, I have been getting distracted by my re-branding my AT THE BEACH COLLECTION ... I really do love making pretty graphics, and once I have it in my mind to do it, I can't get on with something else until I have made it how I like.
... this is my new banner ...
I am so pleased with the beachy feel I have managed to make ... its now called BYGONE BEACH DAYS. I am going to wait till I have moved to launch it properly though.
Sarah has a lovely shop on
Folksy called DillyDollyDaydream (great name ... my dog is called Dilly-Dolly!) and you can follow her on twitter
@DDdaydream8 words that most describe you
Welsh, indecisive, scatty, accident prone, curious, tactile, unconventional, soreWhat did you last make?Last thing I made was a black diamond rhinestone and glass bracelet yesterday....ooh and some bread but that's not done yetWhat new craft would you like to try? There's always new things I want to try, as soon as I see something pretty I always want to learn how to make it! I think I'd like to learn how to do enameling nextDo you have any scars? how did you get it/them?I have loads of scars but my favourite one (weird I know but there's a story behind each so...) would be the one on my little finger on my left hand that I got from rescuing kittens from a mattress when I was about 6.When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?When I was little all I ever wanted to be was an old lady with white hair and lots of cats, ambitious huh?! But then when I was a bit older I wanted to work in forensics, unfortunately I didn't work hard enough in school...Do you collect anything?I seem to collect things with cows on, it's not a deliberate thing but there seems to be more and more here every year so I suppose I would have to say I do!What was your favourite toy as a child?I think my favourite toy as a child would have been my purple bike.Whats your favourite ice-cream flavour?Favourite ice cream flavour would definitely be coconut, it's just a shame it's so hard to find anywhere.
I hope you have enjoyed some randomness and Please check out her lovely
shop!
... by the way I have never tried coconut ice-cream ... but its now on my list of things to look out for!
I have boring jobs to do today ... jobs that I can't put off, so have been thinking of what a perfect SUMMER SUNDAY would be ...
... well that's what I love about the summer!
I finished my new nieces teddy last night ... added a face & bow
and put a little crochet trim around the bottom of the dress ...
... I hope she likes it :)
My new knitting bag and needle case arrived in the post this morning too and they are beautiful so I am very happy :D
I have been thinking a lot about my dream life ... what I have always wanted since I was young enough to dream, was to do up a place ... an old farm house and be as self sufficient as possible ... with chickens and maybe pygmy goats ... I have pushed this dream to one side for so long because it seems impossible .... but I really want it.
I slept so well last night ... long may it continue!
I am thinking of writing a 'to do' list or 'bucket list' ... things to do before I die .... I will have a think and then add it to my blog and tick things off when they are done! I am so sick of not living ... just getting through day to day trying to pay bills ... well that's over now ... new life ... new me .......... watch this space! although this month is going to be pretty dull .... I am moving at the beginning of September, so most of this month will be accounts and packing!
I have treated myself to a new knitting bag and needle case from eBay ... They are so pretty I can't wait for them to arrive.
My mum made me a needle case years ago, but its now quite tatty and wasn't in as pretty material as this ...
I don't know if all my knitting will fit in though ;) but at least it gets some of it out of carrier bags!
I am going to be an Auntie again in less than a month ... I already have
a beautiful niece who is 7 and the cutest nephew who is only 3 1/2
months old so the arrival of another little girl is very exciting. I
hope they all grow up close and remain good friends through out their
life.
I started this little teddy a while ago, but once I found out that she was a
girl I was able to add the pink ... just need to add a face and maybe a bow on one ear
or around her neck ... so my challenge to myself is get her done by the
end of the week ... I can manage that can't I?? hehe .... watch this
space!
I had such a headache yesterday that the long list of jobs I had to do
got put to one side and after a sleep in the middle of the day all I
felt up to was sitting on the sofa. So with my lap top on my lap as it
should be used I decided to have a play with the banner in my
supply shop on
Folksy and this is the result ...
My
Butterfly Buys Supply Store is full of goodies to help you create masterpieces!
Now I must get on with all those jobs that I didn't do yesterday!
